5,Character: POTASSIUM Nitrate is a kind of colorless and transparent rhombic crystal or white powder.The relative density is 2.109, melting point is 334ºC.It will release oxygen and transform to Nitrous acid When the temperature is about 400ºC,and it will generate Potassium monoxide.It is easily soluble in the water(when it is 0ºC,13.3g/100gH2O;when it is 30ºC,45.8g/100H2O;when it is 100ºC,246.0g/100gH2O),the liquid ammonia and glycerol but insoluble in anhydrous alcoho and ether. It can not deliquesce in the air. As strong oxidizer,.When mixing with organics it will burn and explode ,moreover,it will emit toxic gases with irritating smell.Finally,it will send out a powerful beam when heating with carbon or sulfur.
6,Usage: POTASSIUM Nitrate can produce Penicillin Potassium and Rifampicin in pharmaceutical industry.Food grade potassium nitrate can be used as hair color agent and Preservative in food industry,so it acts as a preservative in bacon and luncheon meat.

8,Storage and Transport: Operators should wear protective smock including respirator and rubber gloves. Be careful not to inhale the powder of potassium nitrate to protect respiration apparatus and skin.Store in a cool,ventilated and dry house, away from moisture, heat or kindling. Avoid mixing with organic compound,sulphur and reducer during storage and transportation in case of explosion. Protect the material from the sun and rain during transportation. Carefully load and unload in case of crash.
