Activity

Fenoxycarb is an insect growth regulator active by contact and ingestion. It also has some ovicidal activity. The product controls larval stages (in particular last instars) of Lepidoptera and certain hemipteran species. The company recommends one or two applications per season depending on pest pressure. Fenoxycarb should not be used during blooming periods.

Non-irritating and non-sensitising to skin (maximisation test); not an eye irritant. Inhalation: LC₅₀for rats >4400 mg/m³ air. Phytotoxicity:Some varieties of pears, vines, citrus fruit and ornamentals may be injured.

Environmental fate: 
Animals:In rats, the major metabolic path is ring hydroxylation to form ethyl [2-[p-(p-hydroxyphenoxy)phenoxy]ethyl]carbamate.Soil:Low mobility in soil, no bioaccumulation. Relatively fast degradation in soil and water: DT₅₀ 1.7-2.5 months (lab.), few to 31 days (field).Plant:Rapidly degraded in plants.WATER SOLUBILITY: 6 ppm
